2013 May 19: Missing Orders

There has been an increasing problem with Orders not being submitted. Without pointing fingers or giving names, I would like to address this issue.

When requesting to participate in the game and accepting the rules and procedures, players were voluntarily agreeing to play the game in a sportsmanlike and responsible manner. Either neglecting to or making the conscious choice not to submit Orders on a given turn is a violation of this agreement. This is not only irresponsible, but very inconsiderate.

Since this game is not a single-player experience, such action (or inaction, as it were) has influence on several other people. Not submitting Orders detracts from these other players' experience. Your allies are let down when there isn't follow-through to their support. Your opponents are let down that there is no challenge to their actions. Players came into the game expecting other players to play the game, and to play against other players - they are disappointed when this doesn't happen.

Let it be noted that I understand this is a game and should not have serious bearing on "real life" events. That said, it does affect the other players - other humans - who deserve respect and to whom each player should feel a responsibility for enhancing their experience as much as possible.

Furthermore, I understand that gameplay is not a compulsory activity, each player having the choice to terminate their participation at any given time. If a player wishes to discontinue their participation, the rules take into account such scenarios. These players should notify the moderator and other players as soon as they wish to leave so appropriate action can be taken.

NEW GAME POLICY:

In order to deal with the situation which has developed heretofore, additional policies are being implemented.

If a player misses two orders in a three order span (ie: submit-miss-miss/miss-submit-miss):
That player will be removed from the game. Their units will remain in place and will thereafter follow the "Civil Disorder" scenario as stated in the rules. This includes SPRING/FALL/BUILD Orders, but does not include Retreat Orders (these are considered to be part of the SPRING/FALL which caused such retreat to be necessary).

If two players are removed due to the above circumstances:
The game will end with no victor.

If 50% or more of the active players fail to submit orders in a single turn:
The game will end with no victor.
